Rain is part of Brittany’s charm, but it doesn’t stop you from enjoying your stay.

Discover the heritage
Visit the museums, chapels and charming villages of Finistère, a region rich in history and culture that is well worth exploring in depth.
The maritime museum, for example, offers a fascinating insight into Brittany’s maritime heritage, with exhibitions on fishing, seafaring and local traditions. You can discover handcrafted artefacts, model ships and works of art that bear witness to the lives of the region’s inhabitants over the centuries.
The Aquashow in Audierne is also a great museum to visit with the whole family, including young children. Enjoy a bird show and a tour of the aquarium, featuring a wonderful variety of local species and more!
As for the chapels, they are true architectural gems, often adorned with frescoes and sculptures that tell ancient stories. Some chapels, such as Saint-Barbe in Audierne, stand majestically on headlands, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the surrounding countryside. The Chapel of Primelin is also a listed monument well worth a visit.
These places of worship, imbued with serenity, bear witness to the locals’ devotion and their deep connection to the sea.
As you explore these charming villages, you’ll be enchanted by the authenticity of the cobbled streets, granite houses and lively little squares. Audierne, for example, is a bustling harbour where you can enjoy fresh seafood in one of the many seaside restaurants. The local Saturday market is the ideal place to discover local produce and meet the artisans who keep traditional skills alive.
Nearby Pont-Croix is another picturesque village well worth a visit. Designated a ‘petite cité de caractère’! With its rich architectural heritage and flower-lined streets, it offers a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. Here you can admire the Church of Saint-Collégien, a remarkable building with its carved details and fascinating history. The cafés and artisan shops dotted around the town centre are perfect for taking a break and soaking up the local atmosphere.
Every Tuesday evening during the summer, come and enjoy the organic farmers’ market. There are free concerts in the main square, with refreshment stalls, food trucks and oyster platters.
All in all, Finistère is a region that combines natural beauty with cultural richness, and a visit to Audierne and Pont-Croix will allow you to discover hidden treasures whilst enjoying Breton hospitality. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover or simply in search of breathtaking scenery, this part of Brittany is sure to charm and amaze you.
